The Child Psychology Divison focuses on understanding, diagnosing, and treating emotional, behavioural, and psychological challenges that affect mental well-being and daily functioning. Child psychologists use evidence-based assessment and therapy techniques to help individuals of ages 6-24 years overcome stress, anxiety, mood concerns, behavioural issues, life adjustments, and other psychological difficulties. Their expertise supports overall mental health as part of a holistic healthcare approach within the hospital. 

Psychology department focuses on academic assessment and therapy to all kinds of population including children with developmental disabilities. It follows bio psychosocial model to deal with academic problems. It starts with detailed case history and mental status examination to identify the individual in detail. Followed by case history and MSE, children and adolescents are being tested using standardized, psychological tools to assess different cognitive, social and behavioral functions to identify underlying cognitive and neurological strengths and deficits. An evaluation of learning styles, barriers of learning at home and school etc. also undergoes.

Followed by comprehensive assessment, feedback is given to parents and individuals. Followed by this, individuals are given therapy for cognitive deficits such as attention enhancement training, memory training and specific training for reading, writing, spelling and mathematics. Individuals with behavioral problems, including those with ASD, ADHD, ODD, CD are managed using different behavior modification techniques ad counselling. Children/adolescents showing symptoms of depression, anxiety or OCD are managed using CBT, Exposure therapy, Relaxation techniques, Emotional Freedom Technique etc.

 Different psychotherapeutic interventions are also given such as behaviour modification, education therapy, attention enhancement therapy, family therapy, supportive therapy and counselling to parents and individuals.
